Father Erik’s Letter

November 6, 2021

Dear Parish Activity/Organization Leader:

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has designated National Vocation Awareness Week(NVAW) November 7-13, 2021. I am pleased to announce, this is our fifteenth annual Christ the King Parish Vocations Week to be celebrated November 6-12, 2021.

Our request is that everyone at Christ the King Parish unites in prayer to support and encourage vocations to the Priesthood, Religious and Consecrated Life. We recognize that the family is the foundation for vocations and emphasize their importance of praying together.

This Parish Vocations Awareness Week, we give thanks to God for the support of our current four Seminarians and Seven Acolytes. Please continue to pray for an increase of vocations. It is my wish that everyone take an active part during this week of prayer, thanksgiving, and awareness for vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life.

I encourage all Parish Organizations to pray the rosary with these intentions in mind. I am also asking all parish organizations to plan their activities with vocations as the theme during our Christ the King Church Vocations Awareness Week. If you do not have an organization meeting planned for that week, please schedule a
vocations activity during the month of November 2021.

“Prayer for Vocations Hour,” sponsored by Christ the King Church, will be held 7:00- 8:00 PM, Monday and Tuesday, November 8-9, 2021, and Thursday and Friday, November 11-12, 2021 during our Christ the King Vocations Week. Deacon Patterson will lead this service in our Church.

Wednesday, November 10, 2021, 7-8:30 PM will be a special night for CYM with Praise, Worship, and Singing with Team Jesus in Christ the King Church. Deacon Hartnedy will be the homilist followed by Eucharistic Adoration and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Although this evening is promoted for our teens, all are invited and welcome to attend.

After reflection, I respectfully ask that you plan your Vocations Week activity and please forward a description to Teri Tribby (ttribby@ctklr.org) by October 28, 2021. Your activities will be reported to the Parish by-way of an insert in the Sunday Bulletin.

Our Parish Vocation Committee would be pleased to work with you to plan your activity. Contact any of these members for assistance: Conrad Battreal, Chair; Deacon Dick Patterson; Mary Battreal; Bevie Davies; Greg Donaldson; Evelyn Hart; Paul Jara; Francie Ross; Miriam Harper and Matteo Volpi. Let’s join together to make this Christ the King’s best Vocation Awareness Week ever.

In Christ,

Fr. Erik Pohlmeier
